About
Ella Matza is a Brooklyn-based Costume Designer, HMU and Fine Artist specializing in oil painting and printmaking. She received a degree in Philosophy and International Relations from the University of St Andrews, Scotland, and now works freelance in Film, TV and Theater. She loves bringing her fine arts eye for color, pattern and detail to designing costumes that feel original and exciting, especially if it involves a hands-on approach (printing hand-carved stamps onto costumes, handmade chainmail pieces and unique bolo ties to accentuate a character’s look, sewing a garment from scratch to fit the specific needs of the project, or even doodling portraits of the cast and crew on set).
In addition to her work as a Costume Designer and HMU artist, she has enjoyed working on narrative and commercial film projects as a concept artist, set decorator, props stylist, and more.
